The Competitor Series of bits are a series of bits that has been designed and built with a specific purpose! That specific purpose is to create equal pressure on the left and right side of a horse’s mouth with great weight and balance. These one-of-a-kind bits are handmade by Shawn Parrott who has tried and tested his bits from colts to seasoned veteran horses. He believes that riding these bits will improve your horse’s ability in any venue you choose. These bits give a true competitive feel!
Competitor 7"

Shawn’s favorite is the 7” Competitor and 9” Competitor. These bits are comprised of a chain port mouth piece. The reason why I choose the port is for maximum tongue relief. On these bits Shawn hand twists the right chain and fixes the chain to a ball. This ball is mounted in the shank with a pin. The most important part of these bits is that the left chain is also hand twisted to the left ball and pin on the left shank. These bits have equal pressure on both sides of the horse’s mouth. After 20% of the pull on the bridal, the mouth piece becomes solid, making this bit now a solid moth piece. This being said the rider gets the benefit of the feel of two different bits. The traditional chain bit only has links that twist to the right. This special design provides all the benefits of a traditional chain, but adds more end point and a solid feel as you lift your reins. Which no other chain bit offers. The 9” Competitor is not very different from the 7” Competitor. Having the same chain port mouth piece this bit offer a longer purchase allowing the rider more leverage and intensifies the mouth piece.

The All Around is a 7” shank with the chain port mouth piece. This mouth piece consists of the chain being hand twisted to the right and left with the same principle as the Competitor, having equal pressure on both sides of the horse’s mouth. This chain is linked to the side of the shank offering a milder feel. This bit is a chain port bit that becomes solid after 50% of the pull. This is not a severe bit. This bit is comfortable, safe and provides a tremendous amount of feel for the rider without being too harsh.
The Cashman is a 7” shank with a solid 1 ½” straight link. This link is attached to the port. This allows the rider more control with a stronger horse. The mouth piece floats 5-10 degrees in the mouth before becoming really solid. This bit helps gather more collection and rate in older, stronger horses. Shawn built this bit for his son Cash.
